2022’s Hottest Kitchen and Home Events

After two years of interruptions, changes and cancellations, the kitchen and home design community is planning on 2022 being the year when live, in-person home design shows return in a big, big way!

Here at Controlled Interiors, we can’t wait to get back on the show floor and see all of the exciting trends for 2022 and beyond. We know plenty of our customers, suppliers and fitters share our excitement, too. That’s why we’ve put together this list of the biggest home kitchen events for 2022.

6th-9th March 2022: KBB Birmingham, NEC Birmingham

Widely considered Europe’s largest and most prominent trade events for the home design industry, KBB Birmingham is attended by the country’s most prevalent kitchen, bedroom and bathroom brands, as well as anyone else who operates in the sector.

Everyone from retailers to architects, interior designers, property developers, installers and contractors will be there – making it number one amongst kitchen and home trade events in 2022.

At Controlled Interiors we’re especially excited to be attending KBB this year, as one of our Designers is a finalist in the KBB Retail & Design Awards 2022 for Kitchen Designer of the Year! Our team will be at the awards ceremony on 7th March, sitting alongside our friends, colleagues and brand partners within the kitchen industry.

If you have more than a passing interest in kitchen design, you can apply for access at the KBB visitor registration page here.

11th-27th March 2022: The Ideal Home Show, Olympia London

Beginning just two days after the end of KBB, The Ideal Home Show is a fortnight-long extravaganza of innovative ideas for right across the home. More than an exhibitor hall, it packs in 600 home brands, full-scale show homes, free talks, celebrity appearances, expert advice, plus even tips and tricks to boost your health and wellbeing.

There’s a super theatre, tours and attractions courtesy of ITV, a show village and show gardens – including one themed around I’m A Celebrity. Add places to eat and drink, and even a pamper spa, and you have a wonderful day out for anyone with a passion for the home. That makes it easily one of the biggest kitchen and home events of 2022.

30th April-8th May: Grand Designs Live (South), Excel London

Prefer your home design shows with a little less pomp and a little more focus? The Grand Designs approach could be for you. Fronted by the TV show’s iconic host Kevin McCloud, it features expert talks, tonnes of exhibitors and even live talks, across four unique Project Zones: Gardens, Interiors, Kitchen & Bathroom, and Build.

The London show will undoubtedly be one of 2022’s biggest kitchen and home events, and it all starts on London’s docklands on 30th April. Get ideas for your home at the old Millennium Dome with a ticket from here.

14th-15th September: The Commercial Kitchen Show, ExCel London

If you want to focus exclusively on all things kitchen and you can wait until the other side of summer, the Commercial Kitchen Show could be the event for you.

Unlike Grand Designs and Ideal Home, it’s a trade-only event, which means it’s business-focused and you’ll need to have a professional link to the kitchen design industry. That said, that still opens the event up to a wide network of potential job roles, from journalists and media to kitchen fitters, designers, architects, retailers and more besides.

If you work in any of those spaces, this is the place to make new contacts, discover fresh kitchen innovations, learn at the free seminars and see what top kitchen trends are on the horizon for Autumn 2022 and beyond.

5th-7th and 9th October: Grand Designs Live (Midlands), NEC Birmingham

The last entry in our list of 2022’s hottest kitchen and home events is the more northerly edition of the Grand Designs event happening in London in the Spring. Visitors to the Autumn event at Birmingham’s NEC can expect a slightly different array of exhibitors along with all of the events and expertise mentioned above.

Also present at both shows will be some truly unique areas, including a ‘Green Heroes’ area showcasing some of the industry’s most forward-thinking eco products. The Birmingham event meanwhile will get its own unique Sleep Quality Experiment where visitors can take part in a blind test involving some of the country’s biggest mattress brands. So if you’re also thinking about updating your sleep space as well as your cooking one, this could be the must-go-to home and kitchen event of 2022!
