We always welcome a design challenge so when we were contacted by Mr & Mrs H from Haselmere for help with their project we jumped at the chance to get involved.

As soon as we saw the architects plans we knew the Leicht product would be ideal to create a perfect contemporary design.

The brief was to create an integrated living space to include kitchen, dining and pantry storage with “clever solutions” for room separation and to create family friendly features within a minimalist design.

About the work

The biggest challenge was to combine these features with a solution that would allow the pantry area to flow off the main kitchen whilst remaining hidden from view for the majority of the time.

We carefully designed a secret door system that would give the appearance for ordinary units when closed but that would open up to create access to an extended run of units when needed.

It was important that this operated smoothly and is as beautiful as it is functional so it was engineered with soss hinges and an elegant self-closing piston.

The minimalist design was achieved by using a handle-less systems including “touch open” fridge and freezer housings and family friendly features include a hidden breakfast centre for the busiest time if day in many modern households.

To harmonise the kitchen in its surroundings, the furniture was designed in a carbon grey using a Fenix material which has a luxurious feel, offers soft and subtle light reflection whilst having thermal self-healing properties for life’s inevitable little mishaps.
